NEWPORT, RI (November 6, 2023)—Newport Yacht Builders announces the launch of its second custom Mussel Ridge design, a Downeast-style 46-foot tuna fishing boat built with the company’s rapid and highly accurate design-and-build techniques. The company delivered Disruptor to its new owner a mere 18 months after the contract was signed and 12 months after the hull (built at Hutchinson Composite) arrived at Newport Yacht Builders’ production facility off J.T. Connell Highway in Newport.

Twelve months after the hull arrived in Newport, the Mussel Ridge 46 named Disruptor was launched and unleashed on the Atlantic fishing grounds.

As December and a mild Newport winter arrived, work on the Mussel Ridge 46 at our build shop shifted rapidly to final assembly, fairing, finish, and the installation of systems.

The hull, deck and deckhouse arrived in Newport from Hutchinson Composites in late July. Since then, we’ve installed the key structural and interior components and are on schedule to send this 46-footer to sea in search of giant bluefin tuna.
